2016 News and Events
2016 celebrated Indiana's Bicentennial with several special events:
- We put together a Special Exhibit at the Lake County Library about the Lincoln Highway which is now on permanent display at the Museum.

- We partnered with the NWI Times to support their efforts in digitizing their microfilm archives. Converting the archives to a digital medium will allow for greater access and organization as the information will be navigable across the internet. See The Time's article for additional details.
- Several of our exhibits were featured at the South Shore Visitor Center's special exhibit, "200 Years Along the South Shore from August 29, 2016 - October 02, 2016".
- Read the Post-Tribune's recent article about James Adams, a sleigh rider from the 1800's that traveled from Detroit to Fort Dearborn in stunning speed. Adams' crossed through Ross Township during his journey and later had a farm in the area; he is buried at the Merrillville Cemetery.
